Florence Mukanga-Majachani

Florence is a consultant and researcher in cultural governance, advocacy, cultural rights, citizenship and creative industries. She has over thirteen years’ experience facilitating the development and adoption of more efficient and culture-sensitive development policies and programmes in Africa.

Her most recent experience in the area of monitoring and evaluation includes an evaluation of the European Union/Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust “Culture Impacts” programme; a commission by the Observatory of Cultural Policies in Africa to evaluate the level of inclusion of culture in development policies and frameworks in Zimbabwe; working with Hivos to evaluate projects in the area of Youth and ICTs in Zimbabwe. In addition Florence has worked as an independent researcher for Africalia, Hivos, Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust, Zimbabwe-Germany Society, Nhimbe Trust, Arterial Network, University of Zimbabwe and Tswane University of Technology among other organisations. In 2012 she was selected to participate in the UNESCO expert training aimed at nurturing African experts on the implementation of the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. Florence is the author of a cultural policy profile of Zimbabwe which is featured on the World Compendium on Cultural Policies website (World CP). She has also written numerous cultural policy papers and presented at local, regional and international gatherings and conferences on cultural policy. Currently a member of the Cultural Policy Task Team for Arterial Network, Florence holds Honours in Theatre Arts and Masters in Arts and Culture Management degrees.
