Tom Fleming Creative Consultancy to develop a Digital Platform for the Design Council's Design Challenge

Tom Fleming has been commissioned by the Design Council to provide strategic advice, market assessment and contextual analysis on the development of the digital platform for the National Design Challenge for Schools, which meets the needs of schools, young people and designers taking part in the Challenge. The platform will be at the cutting edge of technology in schools, adding real value to the Challenge and for the wider aims of the Design Council by showing the benefits of design approaches to systemic issues affecting society.

Tom Fleming speaking at Kent Cultural Summit 19 April 2010

Tom Fleming will be addressing the Kent Cultural Summit on the 19th April with the topic 'Welcoming and co-operative hosts to the creative workforce'. In light of the current financial climate, it is key for Kent County Council to help partners' fully understand the creative sector - its complexity and considerable potential, to recognise its distinct needs and contributions as part of the wider economy, and its inter-connectedness with a broad range of agendas. Tom will tackle these issues by showcasing a set of inspirational examples, from the County and beyond.

Tom Fleming speaking at the symposium on the Creative Industries and Empty Buildings, Wales

Tom Fleming will be keynote speaker at the symposium, 'Re-Using Empty Buildings for Creative and Cultural Industry', which will take place in Pontypridd, Wales on the 31st March. The event will help to identify opportunities and demand for the re-use of empty buildings as incubation facilities, film and television locations, performance venues and exhibition spaces. Tom will present international examples of pioneer communities for the creative economy and repurposing industrial buildings. The day will end with a workshop and a scoping exercise.

This event is part of the Media Industries Knowledge Exchange programme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government's Academia for Business (A4B) scheme. The audience will comprise of participants from the broad fields of creative industries development and incubation, commercial and social enterprise and academia.

The symposium will take place at the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd, Wales.

Tom Fleming Keynote Speaker at the 'Creative Industries Lunch' in Lisbon, Portugal

Tom Fleming will be the keynote speaker at the 'Creative Industries Lunch' taking place in Lisbon on the 30th March. The meeting, being hosted by the UKTI and the British Council in Lisbon, will address the growing importance of both the Portuguese and UK Creative Industries, and investigate the partnership and investment opportunities in the two countries. This will include an overview of the UK's Creative Industries' journey over the past 20 years, concluding with a short debate.

Tom Fleming speaking at Forum Kreative Stadt (Creative City Forum) in Mannheim, Germany on the 25th March

Forum Kreative Stadt (Creative City Forum), currently in its third year, will take place at Mannheim's Rosengarten Conference centre on the 25th March. The conference will focus on regional and local strategies to govern and promote creative industries, and will be aimed at local policy-makers, members of the administration and decision makers of the "old economy".

Tom Fleming will present examples of good practice creative industries policies from across Europe, plus a set of lessons learned and challenges for the future.
