Tom Fleming on Russian Consultancy Tour - Moscow & Perm, October 5th - 8th
Tom Fleming is set to undertake a series of speaking and consultation activities, building on our cooperation with the Russian Creative Industries Agency and the British Council.
- On October 5th, Tom will provide a keynote address at a British Council seminar in Moscow. This will focus on models of creative and cultural workspace, exploring emergent models and the role of different types of infrastructure for a flourishing creative ecology.
- On October 6th, Tom will travel to Perm to provide consultancy as part of the British Council's Future City Game initiative.
- On October 7th, Tom will provide a keynote speech on open cultural and creative infrastructure for a large audience of stakeholders in Perm.
This is the first activity in an exciting new programme of cooperation between Tom Fleming Creative Consultancy and the Russian Creative Industries Agency.

Article by Tom Fleming for "Creative Industries in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania 2010"
Tom Fleming has written a 'think piece' on how partners across the three Baltic states of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia can operate as a major centre for the development of the creative economy.
The article, "Developing a Creative Economy in the Baltic Region: Challenges & Opportunities" features in the September 2010 publication of the Creative Industries in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, funded by the Estonian Ministry of Culture. It aims to open up a policy debate about the drivers of the Creative Industries in the Baltic Region, and to understand the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
"The Baltic region, with its diverse and youthful countries, has already made significant progress in nurturing its creative industries and developing a broader creative economy. Indeed, with each of the region's capital cities hosting the European Capital of Culture title over a five year period, awareness of the region is at an all time high."

TFCC to produce study on Sheffield's Digital Cluster
TFCC has been commissioned to carry out a study building data and intelligence on Sheffield's creative and digital cluster. The study will comprise of high level data analysis to give a clear overview of the social, cultural and commercial drivers that influence the profile and behaviour of the CDI sector in Sheffield, as well as intelligence on the opportunities for maximising growth and levering a greater value-adding role for the sector. The overall outcome of this will be a detailed and practical appraisal of the dynamics and profile of Sheffield's CDI sector.

Andrew Erskine links culture to place marketing in Novosibirsk, Siberia
Andrew Erskine has been appointed as a judge for The First Russian International Place Marketing Competition "Golden Sandpiper Awards". These presitigious awards celebrating innovation and creativity in place marketing, now in the second year, received over 40 entries from countries and places as diverse as Dubai, Illinois and Great Yarmouth.
As well as judging the awards, Andrew will be running a masterclass in culture and place making at the the Smart Region conference in Russia's 3rd biggest city, Novosibirsk, from the 23rd to the 25th September. This major conference features international speakers on city and regional development from Europe, the USA and Russia

Tom Fleming to advise the Irish Government on Creative Economy Policy
On September 21st, Tom Fleming is set to visit Ireland to undertake a set of consultations with the Irish Government. This is through an invitation of the National Campaign for the Arts, Ireland.
Tom will draw on international good practice to explore with Irish partners the most appropriate role for the Creative Economy as the country emerges from a particularly sharp downturn. This includes identifying the relationship between the traditionally subsidised 'arts' and the more commercially driven creative industries. It will also concern how to maximise the value of creative activities, goods and services for the competitiveness of the wider economy.
